Venison Burger Smash Tacos: a crispy venison (or beef) recipe with everybody’s favorite burger toppings on a tortilla. This recipe is a great introduction into venison if you've never tried it before! If you're not into it, then swap the venison with regular ground beef.
Taco Ingredients:
1 lb ground venison or beef
Burger seasoning
8 – 10 street taco size tortillas
8 – 10 slices of American cheese
Toppings: Chopped romaine lettuce, sliced tomato, and the secret sauce.
Taco Instructions:
I used a pre-seasoned ground venison for this recipe. If you’re using ground beef, be sure to season the beef with usual seasonings (salt, pepper, garlic powder + onion powder) or with a burger seasoning blend. Section out the meat and roll into balls about the size of a golf ball.
Heat a large skillet on high heat. Place the meat on the hot skillet and smash with a spatula or burger smasher tool. The meat will cook fast since it’s broken up into small, flat sections. Cook for about two minutes on one side, then flip.
Cook that side for about one minute then add a slice of American cheese on top, allow to melt for 30-45 seconds, then add the tortilla on top of the cheese. Cook for another 15-20 seconds then flip so that the tortilla is flat on the skillet. Allow the tortilla to crisp up a bit; about 45 seconds.
Remove taco from skillet, add desired toppings, and enjoy!
Secret Sauce Ingredients (mix this all together in a bowl):
½ cup mayonnaise
2 tbsp ketchup
2 tsp maple syrup
1 tbsp dill pickle relish
Pinch salt & pepper
Pinch of garlic powder
